Timelines

A timeline is events in order. It starts with timeline and its title.

Times and events

Each line is a time, a colon and what happened then. Several events go apart by semicolons - 1945: ENIAC; First stored programs - or indented under the time on lines of their own. Any words are a time: 1945, Spring, Day 3, 09:00. The times are spaced evenly, so a timeline reads as a story rather than a scale.

timeline A festival day
direction: down
09:00: Gates open
11:00
  First band
  Food stalls open
14:00: Main act [red]
22:00: Fireworks

The text above: four times down a line, two events under 11:00, and the main act in red

Sections and colours

section Name groups the times after it - or the times indented under it - into a band of one colour. A colour or a role in brackets after a time, or after one of its events, colours that time.

A time on its own, with no colon, is a time with no events yet; a line that starts with its colon, an event with no time, is said.
