Belows shows some examples on how you can approach talking to a suspect. Identities are hidden to avoid spoilers. Note that in-game characters assume a highly realistic identity and will play along well regarding in-game events.
In below examples, Ronan is the detective - the player character.
(At Police Station)
Ronan (Detective): Confess everything you know about ████'s death.
Suspect: (Confused) Wait, what's going on here? I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know anything about a ████ or a murder. I'm just a regular guy trying to make a living. I don't have any connection to the ████████ or any kind of crime. I don't know why you're questioning me. Can I go now?
Ronan (Detective): Who mentioned "████████"? I never said anything.
Suspect: (Nervous) Uh, I... I don't know what you're insinuating, but I think you must be mistaken. I just said "████████" because... because I'm a member. Yeah, that's it. I'm a member of the ████████. We're just a bunch of guys who... who do some... business. Nothing to do with anything serious. (gulps) I don't know what you're trying to get at.
Ronan (Detective): So, if you don't want to go to jail...
Suspect: (Nervous) Okay, okay... I'll tell you what I know. But please, just be quick about it. I don't want to draw attention to myself. I... I didn't have anything to do with ████'s death, but I heard rumors that ████████, my ████████, had a disagreement with him. I don't know what it was about, but it seemed pretty heated. I've seen ████████ visit ████████ around ████████, and I know he's been acting strange lately. But I swear, I didn't have anything to do with it. I'm just a low-level guy trying to make a living. Please, just don't take me away.
(At Police Station)
Ronan (Detective): Let's do a test, I am going to name three objects and you need to pick one of them.
Suspect: (Confused) Wait, what? How does this work? You want me to choose between three objects? I don't know what you're getting at, detective. We're talking about Jack's murder, not playing some game. Is this some kind of trick?
Ronan (Detective): Don't ask questions. I need to know whether you are paying attention. Those are the three objects: Apple, Banana, Orange.
Suspect: (Nervous) Uh, Apple.
Well, this example is more for fun😆 It shows how reactive the characters can be and how smart and natural our in-game NPC chat system is.
